In the case of degrees or academic certificates, legalization generally consists of recognizing the signature of the educational authority that issued the original document.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">The procedures vary depending on the country of origin where the academic documents were issued:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">1. Member States of the European Union or signatories to the Agreement on the European Economic Area.<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">No type of legalization is required for documents issued in these countries.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">The countries are: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. Switzerland is also included, by bilateral agreement with the EU.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">2. Countries that have signed the Hague Convention of 5 October 1961.<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">A single legalization or \u201capostille\u201d issued by the competent authorities of the country is sufficient.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Information on the procedure should be provided by the competent authorities or consular services of the <\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hcch.net\/es\/instruments\/conventions\/status-table\/?cid=41\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">signatory countries<\/span><\/span><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-31436 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/estudios.umh.es\/files\/2021\/11\/abre-en-nueva-ventana.png\" alt=\"(opens in a new window)\" width=\"15\" height=\"15\"><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">3. Countries that have signed the Andr\u00e9s Bello Agreement.<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">The documents, which must be legalized through diplomatic channels, must be submitted to each of the locations indicated below, and in the following order:<\/span><\/span>\n<ol>\n<li><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Ministry of Education of the country of origin.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country of origin.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Diplomatic or consular representation of Spain in that country.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">The subscriber countries are: Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Spain, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic and Venezuela.&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">4. Other countries.<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">The documents, which must be legalized through diplomatic channels, must be submitted to each of the locations indicated below, and in the following order:<\/span><\/span>\n<ol>\n<li><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Ministry of Education of the country of origin.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country of origin.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Spanish Consulate in that country or Consular Section of the Embassy provided with a security label.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">OFFICIAL TRANSLATION<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">All documents issued in a language other than any of the official languages \u200b\u200bused in the Valencian Community must be accompanied by their translation into Spanish, which may be done:<\/span><\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">By any diplomatic or consular representation of the Spanish State abroad or of the issuing country in Spain.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">By the diplomatic or consular representation in Spain of the country where the document was issued.&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">By a sworn translator, duly authorized or registered in Spain.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Legalization is the procedure for validating the signatures of the authorities who sign a document, thereby certifying its authenticity for presentation in a third country.
