PREPARATORY COURSE FOR PEOPLE OVER 40 YEARS OLD

What is PAU40?
It is an initiative of the Vice-Rectorate for Students and Coordination of the Miguel Hernández University of Elche that aims to facilitate the entry of people over 40 years of age into the university by preparing them with the knowledge, procedures and attitudes in accordance with the demands of university education.
How do I register?
The registration
period is from January 9 to 24, 2026.
IMPORTANT: Your registration will be effective upon receipt of payment. You do not need to bring proof of payment. If you are eligible for a tuition exemption, simply send an email to with supporting documentation. This email must be sent before the registration deadline.
Who is it aimed at?
For people over 40 years of age who have work and professional experience related to teaching, do not have any other form of access to university and want to obtain prior preparation for the entrance tests necessary to enter a certain degree at the UMH.
What subjects are taught?
The course is structured around preparing for the merit assessment phase (resume, training, etc.) that comprises the entrance exams for individuals over 40 with work and professional experience, as well as preparing for the interview as regulated by Royal Decree 1892/2008 of November 14 and supplementary regulations of our Autonomous Community. The following subjects are taught in the course:

Who teaches the classes?
The classes will be taught by specialist teachers with extensive training and experience in the content of each of the subjects required in the university entrance exams for people over 40.
When are the classes held?
The 24 hours that make up the course are taught on Saturday mornings in January, February and March 2026, according to the following schedule:

How much does it cost?
The price of the course is 52 euros.
- Students enrolled in the PAU40 course who pass the University Entrance Exam for Adults Over 40 and enroll in a degree program at Miguel Hernández University will receive a €52 discount on their first-year tuition fees. This discount will be applied to the amount paid in the case of reduced tuition fees.
- Students enrolled in the PAU40 Course who take the University Entrance Exam for Adults Over 40 but do not pass will be entitled to a €26 discount on their tuition fees for the following year’s PAU40 Course. This discount will be applied to the amount paid in the case of reduced tuition fees.
- Students who can prove they are from a large family will receive a 50% discount on the course price (general large family) and a 100% discount (special large family).
- Students who can prove a disability equal to or greater than 33% or equivalent (Social Security pensioners who have been recognized as having a permanent disability at the level of total, absolute or great disability and pensioners of passive classes who have been recognized as having a retirement or pension for permanent incapacity for service or unfitness), will have a 100% exemption from fees.
- Students who can prove they are members of single-parent families will receive a 50% discount on the course price (general single-parent family) and a 100% discount (special single-parent family).
- Students who can prove they are victims of terrorism will be entitled to a 100% exemption from paying fees.
- Students who can prove they are victims of acts of violence against women will be entitled to a 100% exemption from paying fees.
- Students who can prove they have been subject to the child protection system or the judicial re-education system, as well as being in a situation of social exclusion and are accredited by the competent body, will enjoy a 100% exemption from fees.
- Students who prove their status as having a minimum living income or Valencian inclusion income through the competent body will enjoy a 100% exemption from fees.
