Who can apply for the scholarship ?
Students enrolled full-time in undergraduate or master’s degree programs at the Miguel Hernández University of Elche are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
Students in the exchange program (SICUE) cannot apply for it.
What do I get from being awarded the scholarship?
If you are a scholarship recipient, you will receive redeemable vouchers for daily meals in the university cafeterias. The vouchers are valid for lunch (midday) on school days.
In the application you must choose if you want a voucher for 20, 30, 40 or 50 meals.
Consult the call for applications to find out the period for using the awarded vouchers.
General requirements:
- Be enrolled in an official undergraduate or master’s degree program during the course of the application.
- If you are not a citizen of the Union, we will apply what is indicated in the regulations on the rights and freedoms of foreigners in Spain and their social integration: that is, you may be entitled to a scholarship if you have a residence permit, excluding those who are in a temporary stay situation.
Where can I redeem my meal vouchers?
You must choose the cafeteria linked to your campus.
Sant Joan d’Alacant Campus: Cafeteria in the Javier Balmis Building
Elche Campus: Arenals Building Cafeteria or Altabix Building Cafeteria. (For Elche, please indicate your order of preference.)
Orihuela Campus: Cafeteria in the Casa del Paso Building (Salesas) or Cafeteria in the Tudemir Building (Desamparados)
Altea Campus: Puig Campana Building Cafeteria
In the event that a Campus does not have a cafeteria service, or does not accept the use of such vouchers, as an extraordinary measure, the amount corresponding to the vouchers granted may be paid directly into the bank account of each of the beneficiaries.
How can I use meal vouchers?
You must present the QR code from your mobile phone at your assigned cafeteria. The meal voucher is personal and non-transferable.
What academic requirements must I meet to obtain the scholarship?
1. Be enrolled in a minimum of 60 credits in the academic year of the call for applications in an official undergraduate or master’s degree program at UMH.
This minimum requirement does not apply to final-year students, provided they are enrolled in all the credits necessary to complete the degree program.
Students in double-degree programs must be enrolled in all the credits per year as established in the study plan.
2. Have passed a minimum of 30 credits in the last academic year completed.
3. Take exams in at least 50% of the courses enrolled in for the academic year in which the grant is being offered.
If I am a senior student
In that case, you can enroll in the credits you need to complete your studies and apply for the scholarship.
You must be enrolled in all remaining courses to complete your degree, including your final degree project (TFG/TFM). We do not consider elective credits because you can contribute transversal skills.
How is independence proven?
If you have sufficient financial resources of your own and own a purchased or rented home, you form an independent family unit.
To prove this situation, you must submit the following documentation:
1. Income tax return. If you are not required to file one, you must provide a certificate of income imputation for the corresponding tax year.
2. Rental agreement for your main residence or the IBI receipt if you own the property.
If you are listed on someone else’s tax return in the year prior to the scholarship application, you are considered not to be independent.
When can I apply for the scholarship?
You have 10 business days from the day after publication in the DOGV.
How do I apply for the scholarship?
Applications are submitted electronically through the online portal, under the Catalog of Procedures and Services, in the Study Management section, by accessing the Scholarships and Study Grants – Own Funds procedure.
The form must be signed by the applicant and all other members of the family unit.
The application must include a copy of the ID/NIE of all eligible members of the family unit and the documentation required in the call for applications according to the situation of each applicant.
You must indicate in your application the meal voucher you are opting for and the cafeteria.
If I need to provide documentation, how do I submit it?
You must submit it by accessing your scholarship application file in your identified access and correcting it; you can also submit it through the UMH electronic headquarters, through a general application
addressed to the Study Management Service.
Is it compatible with the Ministry or Regional Government scholarship?
It is compatible with other scholarships as long as they are not aid intended for the same purpose.
Obligations of the beneficiaries:
You must use at least 80% of the bonuses you are assigned.
You will need to identify yourself by showing the QR code on your mobile phone each time you redeem a voucher at the cafeteria. The meal voucher issued to beneficiaries is personal and non-transferable; the holder is responsible for any misuse of it.
Failure to comply with these obligations will result in penalties in the awarding of the scholarship for the next academic year.
