Who can apply for the scholarship?

You can apply for a scholarship if you think you will enroll in the next academic year at one of the following levels: University studies for undergraduate and master’s degrees.

If you decide not to formalize your enrollment in September, the scholarship will be denied because you are not enrolled.

General requirements 

If you or your family are EU citizens, you must be a permanent resident of Spain or have proof of employment (either self-employed or employed) in Spain to receive the full amount of the university scholarship. If you are an EU citizen and do not meet this requirement, you will only be eligible to receive the tuition fee.

If you are not a citizen of the Union, we will apply what is indicated in the regulations on the rights and freedoms of foreigners in Spain and their social integration: that is, you may be entitled to a scholarship if you are under 18 years of age or if you have obtained a residence permit by December 31 of the year prior to your application.

 What amounts does the scholarship provide? 

• Scholarship components:
  • Tuition waiver: the amount of aid is the official public price corresponding to the credits of first enrollment.
  • Fixed amount linked to income: the amount of aid is 1700 euros.
  • Fixed amount linked to residence: the amount of aid is 2700 euros.
  • Variable amount: the amount of aid will be determined by weighting the student’s average grade and their family income. The minimum amount is 60 euros.
  • Amount linked to academic excellence: the amount of aid is between 50 and 125 euros, depending on average grades starting from 8.00.

 If I am a student in a mobility program, where do I apply for the scholarship?

Even if you are an Erasmus or Sicue student, you are still a UMH student and the processing unit is the home university, in this case the Miguel Hernández University of Elche.

How many credits do I need to enroll in to obtain the scholarship and its components?

To be eligible for a scholarship, undergraduate applicants must be enrolled in a minimum of 60 credits. If they enroll in more credits, all of them will be considered when evaluating their academic performance.

If you enroll in between 48 and 59 credits, you can obtain, in addition to the tuition scholarship and the minimum variable amount, the fixed amount linked to the applicant’s income in the amount of 350 euros, as well as the fixed amount linked to residence for the same amount of 350 euros, provided that you meet the requirements established to obtain these components and do not exceed the thresholds indicated below.

However, students who enroll in between 30 and 47 credits in an academic year may also be eligible for a scholarship. For the purposes of this call for applications, this will be considered part-time enrollment, and they will be eligible for the standard tuition fees and the minimum variable fee.

If during the first registration period you have partial registration and subsequently in the second period you increase or decrease said registration, you must inform the scholarship unit to communicate this circumstance.

What academic requirements must I meet to obtain the scholarship?

If I am a second-year undergraduate student or higher, I must have passed the following percentages of enrolled credits in my last completed studies, depending on the branch of knowledge:

• Arts and Humanities: 90%.
• Science: 65%.
• Social Sciences and Law: 90%.
• Health Sciences: 80%.
• Engineering and Architecture: 65%.

If I am a final-year student, can I qualify for the components if I am enrolled in less than 60 ECTS credits?

In that case, you can enroll in the credits you need to complete your studies and apply for the scholarship.

To be eligible for the scholarship, you must be enrolled in all remaining courses required to complete your degree, including your final degree project (TFG/TFM). Elective credits are not considered because they can contribute to your transferable skills.

You must take into account the following: If these credits are taken in one semester, the amount of the scholarship will be 50 percent of the amount that you would have been entitled to, with the exception of the tuition scholarship and the minimum variable amount to which this 50 percent reduction will not apply.

How is independence proven?

If you have sufficient financial resources of your own and own a purchased or rented home, you form an independent family unit.

To prove this situation, you must submit the following documentation:

1. Income tax return. If you are not required to file one, you must provide a certificate of income imputation for the corresponding tax year.

2. Rental agreement for your main residence or the IBI receipt if you own the property.

  If you do not meet the requirements to prove independence, you can send us the ID of your parents and siblings under 25 years of age, to include them in your scholarship application.

What are the income thresholds applicable to the awarding of scholarship amounts?

The amount of your scholarship will depend on your family income threshold.

If your family income is higher than the amounts determined in threshold 3, you will not be entitled to a scholarship.

Cuánto te corresponde según la renta familiar

Si tu renta familiar está en el umbral 1 o inferior: Beca de matrícula; cuantía fija ligada a renta: 1.700 €; Si vives fuera del domicilio familiar: 2.700 €; Si has obtenido notas excelentes (un 8 o más) 50 € – 125 €; Cuantía variable

Si tu renta familiar está en el umbral 2: Beca de matrícula; Si vives fuera del domicilio familiar: 2.700 €; Si has obtenido notas excelentes (un 8 o más) 50 € – 125 €; Cuantía variable

Si tu renta familiar está en el umbral 3: Beca de matrícula; Si has obtenido notas excelentes (un 8 o más) 50 € – 125 €; 

Si solicito el reconocimiento de créditos, ¿puede afectar a la concesión de mi beca?

Si solicitas el reconocimiento de créditos, dicho créditos no se tienen en cuenta como créditos matriculados, y puede afectar a los distintos componentes de la beca que te pudieran corresponder.

Para el rendimiento académico no se tienen en cuenta los créditos reconocidos o transferidos en estudios de Grado y Máster.

¿Qué sucede si abandono los estudios para los que me concedieron la beca y empiezo otros nuevos?

Si cambias de estudios universitarios sin haberlos acabado y tenías la condición de becario/a, no podrás obtener ninguna beca en los nuevos estudios a no ser que:

1. Te matricules de, al menos, entre 30 y 59 créditos más de los que hubieras cursado con beca en los estudios abandonados. Esto se considera como una matrícula parcial y podrías tener derecho a beca de matrícula y cuantía variable mínima;
2. Te matricules de al menos 60 créditos más de aquellos que hubieras cursado con beca en los estudios abandonados. Esto se considera como una matrícula completa y podrías tener derecho al resto de componentes.

Solo en estos casos tendremos en cuenta los créditos reconocidos, adaptados y transferidos y computaremos los créditos de los que te habías matriculado durante los cursos que obtuviste beca.

¿En qué casos pueden solicitarme el reintegro de la beca?

Students must pass 50% of the credits they are enrolled in during the regular or extraordinary examination period (40% in the case of science and engineering programs). Otherwise, all components of the scholarship will be refunded, with the exception of the tuition fee scholarship.

If you drop out of your studies after receiving a scholarship, the percentages established in the previous paragraph will be taken into account.

The documentation is submitted through the UMH electronic headquarters.
