Units:

1. Basic Mathematical Concepts.
      a) Direct and inverse proportions. Rule of three. 
      b) Solving quadratic equations in one variable.
      c) Solving systems of two equations with two unknowns (and higher systems…).
      d) Logarithms.
      e) Basic trigonometry.
      f) Circumference of a circle, areas of a triangle, a circle, and a sphere, volume of a sphere.
      g) Concept of differential and increment. Concept of derivative.
      h) Concept of integral. Calculation of simple integrals (polynomials, sines, cosines, logarithms, exponentials).
      i) Vectors. Unit vectors. Addition and subtraction. Dot and cross products. Cartesian coordinate system.
      j) Using a calculator (radians, degrees, exponentials).

2. Basic Physical Concepts.
      a) Systems of units. Unit conversion. Multiples and submultiples.
      b) Dimensional calculations.
      c) Using a calculator (radians, degrees, exponentials). We continue to emphasize this.
      d) Scalar and vector quantities.
      e) Density, volume, and mass.
      f) Force and linear momentum.
      g) Moment of a force. Pulleys, levers, lever arms.
      h) Work and energy. Power.
      i) Newton’s Laws. Inclined plane and force decomposition.

3. Advanced Concepts
      a) Projectile motion, kinetic and potential energy.
      b) Difference between a principle and a theorem. Examples.
      c) Simple harmonic motion. Phase and initial phase.
