TRAINING PROGRAM IN TEACHING INNOVATION AND EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE

Introduction

This program aims to continue advancing the need to ensure a culture of innovation and continuous improvement of the teaching-learning process at the university.

It is a program of continuous support for the professional development of the teaching staff, which includes a range of courses that respond to the preferences expressed by our teaching staff, with varied topics related to learning, curriculum design, teaching and research methodologies and other resources that promote the professionalization of the tasks that university teaching staff have to carry out.

Objectives

  • To train university teaching staff in the different elements that influence the teaching-learning process: teaching planning, teaching methods, evaluation, student motivation, communication skills, autonomous learning, tutoring and new technologies and digital platforms applied to teaching.
  • To address the training needs and interests demanded by the teaching staff.

Recipients

It is aimed at all teaching and research staff of the UMH.

When the number of teachers pre-registered for a course exceeds the maximum number of students allowed, the order of pre-registration of the applications submitted to the University’s Study Management Service will be established as the selection criterion.

Prior to the start of the different courses, an email will be sent to all teachers enrolled in these courses, reminding them of the dates on which they will take place.

Training activities

  • Advanced activities and resources with Moodle and integration of undergraduate/master’s theses. 
  • Active learning with Team Based Learning (TBL) and Just in Time Teaching (JiTT). 
  • How to understand and work with gifted students in the classroom during their university years. 

Observations: the courses of the Teaching Innovation and Educational Excellence Program must have a minimum number of 15 participants to be carried out.

Assessment and certificate

Attendance at least 80% of the total hours scheduled for each workshop will be recognized with a certificate issued by the Vice-Rector for Faculty.

Certificates will only be issued to attendees and the teacher(s) of the activity.
